D1GP cars vs FD cars (variance in models)

Post by Yoshi » Wed Aug 21, 2013 12:14 pm

Went over the current D1GP roster and the FD rosters and found a few amusing things. First, FD has double the number of cars. D1GP has 26, FD has >50. thus, from here on out, I shall half the numbers for the FD side to make the numbers match up better for comparison.

D1 has:
6 S15s but 1 S13 and 1 S14 AND 0 350zs
~15% non multi link. But large variance in types of multi links
Mostly S15s, then 1 of LOTS of different models.
Basically all nissan/toyota

FD has:
0 S15s (lol) and 4 S13s, 5, S14s, and 2.5 350zs
~17% non multi link 23% if you count BMWs as non multi link (lol)
Mostly S chassis variants and singles of other makes. I think FD had the most variance.
Lots of different manufacturers

I can see how stale D1GP has become. *shrugs*. Also, the number of solid rears astounded me as they aren't really anywhere close to ideal for the doriftorz.

I'm not sure if its just the way its filmed, but I enjoy watching D1 more than FD. I try to watch FD on tv, and its painful.

Filming quality at D1 is much better. They do everything to make DVDs out of them while FD still just is ok with live streaming.

d1 uses some awesome jibs and rigs. I can remember FD using those for some events, but not all. The live stream has gotten way better in recent years though

I have friends who work on cars in FD... the suspension setup level in America seems to be far higher now than in Japan. WTF?
'87 BMW 325 - Needs fixing
'93 Ford F250 Diesel - Up for sale soon
'03 Yamaha R6 - Hibernating
'14 Ford Fiesta ST - It's a party, alright!

it's like a crane that the camera sits on that goes up and down. The shot at 13 seconds is an example of that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRjTdsJQYQM
