Actually, Yokohamas sportier tires really. I have a set on the Krautmobil's extra rims. Don't remember exactly what model they are, but I can check in the morning after I wake up since I'm off work. They felt fucking amazing when they were on my fronts, and had loads of grip when I switched them to my rears (so I could test out the turn-in ability of my others) as well.

EDIT: I should also give Dunlop an honorable mention. Had some beefy ones on my Z3 that were awesome as well.

I've owned 4 sets of Yokohamas of various types and can barely get more than 26k out of a set. They tend to grip well and are quiet, but they wear terribly and tend to be on the expensive side, especially the AD0x series.

The high performance street tire market got really competitive this year with updates to the RE11, Dunlop releasing the successor to the Z1 Star Spec (that we all know and love), etc. The Toyos are an older design and aren't really competitive on performance or pricing; I've had a set.

DTD doesn't have RS3s in 215/45/17? They have a 225?

personally....i absolutely love the AD08 ADVAN tire...but i can only agree with Sach that it does wear a tad bit quickly due to the soft-ish compound, but you get tons of grip and amazing turn-in and response. Definitely a tire that you buy if you want to be taken seriously. Definitely worth the extra $40 in price. The RE-11's are definitely a close second in my heart, slightly not as good turn-in, but you get nearly the same amount of grip.
